Audio Go's Digital Short-Run Packaging
Opportunity
Digital print technology continues to transform the print industry. Short-run, high-quality folding cartons are a common request. Why print thousands when you only need 175?
Audio Go, formerly BBC Audiobooks America, sought a retail/trade audio package solution for initial releases of 100-300 units to leverage their extensive library catalog. A small release was an ideal way to gauge the sales potential of a new title. They also wanted to have the merchandising impact of graphics on all four spines without building excess print inventory.
They invited Tri-Plex Packaging, an innovator in media packaging for two decades, to join them in this innovative marketing approach.
Solution
By offering high-quality digital imaging on a 16pt. paperboard substrate with gloss UV coating the package gives an extra feel of durability and the perception of enhanced value. We employed our patented interior disc wallet construction. Set-up squarely within the outer carton, it reinforces from the inside and delivers a sturdy retail solution at shelf. Thinking big picture, we approached the design by using the same template as the standard packaging so that the shift to future higher offset print runs would be seamless. With keen attention to die-cutting and gluing efficiencies, our production department maintained cost effectiveness even with such short runs.
Result
Working with World Media Group and their digital technology, we developed these beautifully printed short-run packages for optimum retail presentation. This capability has enabled Audio Go to generate new revenue streams and market opportunities—at an impressive savings of about half the cost of standard minimum quantity (1000-unit) runs.
If you need to create short-run sales and promotional programs, Tri-Plex delivers cost-effective production quality packaging—from 25 to 500 units—quickly and easily.
